Vetiver System Applications

The Vetiver System (VS) is a climate-smart, nature-based solution that directly supports multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its application in land restoration, water conservation, and community resilience. Using Chrysopogon zizanioides, a deep-rooted, non-invasive and unique grass, VS stabilizes soil, reduces erosion and rainfall runoff, filters pollutants, rehabilitates degraded landscapes, and many additional secondary benefits. It empowers local communities providing a powerful tool for autonomous action, creating green jobs (SDG 8), enhancing food security (SDG 2), improving water quality (SDG 6), and building resilience to climate impacts (SDG 13). By restoring ecosystems (SDG 15) and protecting infrastructure (SDG 9), the Vetiver System offers a scalable, inclusive, and sustainable pathway toward achieving the 2030 Agenda—especially in climate-vulnerable regions.

“Vetiver System (VS)” is the descriptive (umbrella) name for the many different applications of the Vetiver Grass Technology (VGT) and multiple secondary benefits generated from them .
