Vetiver plants have been given to many end users. For illustration, this Chapter discusses the uses of the grass by one recipient.

This is a privately owned estate of about 700 acres planted with rubber and oil palm. As returns from these two crops are low, the owner wanted to convert to growing fruit trees. However, the estate is sited in an area with a distinct dry spell. A good water source is therefore essential. In addition, because the land is fairly steep, soil erosion and moisture control becomes critical.

The main targeted uses for Vetiver in this estate are:

1. Centre for production and distribution of materials for interested smallholders around the area.
2. Ponding.
3. Erosion control in irrigation piping.
4. Modify nursery land topography.
5. Erosion control and moisture conservation.
