Vetiver System for highway landscaping in Portugal

The following images were provided by Mike Pease.

They were taken in the Algave, and show how vetiver grass can be used for highway landscaping.

Notice the excellent growth and the ways in which vetiver is used to give added emphasis to a divided road, or a traffic divider, or as a shield against vehicle lights at night. Also note how the grass is very well behaved - showing no sign of escape.

Californian landscapers take note. This technology would do verey well in California -- no irrigation is required and the fire hazard is much less than many native plants currently used.
