Vetiver Mini - Grants Released

Vetiver Minigrants (1998) were released, in order to encourage scientists, technicians, and NGOs to test and plant vetiver. During the International Vetiver Workshop held in Fuzhou on 21-26 October 1997, we distributed 90 application forms, from which more than 30 completed forms were received by China Vetiver Network (CVN) until November. The grants were approved based on the following factors:

the applicants’ responsibility, i.e. it is hoped that the grant recipients can do work well and possibly to send me feedback;

the regional distribution and subject balance;

if the recipients can seek money from other sources.

the applicants came from the region where there is not vetiver so far.

There are altogether 17 recipients for total mini-grants US$ 10,375. As the applications are still coming to my office, there will be a few of more recipients. The money came from The Vetiver Network in USA. It hoped that more grants will be released in the near future. Furthermore, mini-awards is expected to be sent to those who contributed more to the research and development of vetiver.
